Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at George Boom Funeral Home with interment at Brandon Lutheran Cemetery. Lester LeRoy Schroeder, son of Emil and Hilda (Arneson) Schroeder, was born August 26, 1915 in Luverne, MN. As a child, the family lived in the Colton area and the west side of Sioux Falls. The family moved to a farm west of Brandon where he lived for many years. He attended school in Brandon. He lived with his mother for eight years in Sioux Falls. In 1935 at the age of 19, Les started Schroeder Milk Hauling which he owned and operated for 64 years until his retirement in 1999. During the 1980's and 1990's he expanded his business to hauling water. In the late 1950's he purchased some land near Brandon and developed an acreage in which he called the Little Ponderosa, where he has lived for 36 years. Les was united in marriage with Judith Leonard on December 7, 1968 in Sioux Falls, SD. They settled on the Little Ponderosa where they were very active with raising registered horses and ponies. He enjoyed driving teams of horses in horse shows and parades, and supporting his daughter, Delvina, in her horse competitions. Les was a member of the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Posse, Dakota Harness Club, Brandon Saddle Club and the Pinto Horse Association of America. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Judy, Brandon, SD; a daughter, Delvina Gamez and her husband, Paul, Cedar Rapids, IA; two granddaughters, Maria Ann and Isabel Emilia Gamez; a special niece, Pam Fendrich, Denny Fendrich and their daughter, special great-niece Shaun, Garretson, SD; special friends, Ron and Monica Neels, Sherman, SD and their children, Regan Anderson, Tricia and Karisa Neels; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Schroeder; a sister, Edith Moritz; and a great-niece, Nadily Fendrich.
