Description	:	(Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune, 11-1-1972) Lester Leroy Hatch was born Oct. 8, 1884, on a farm near Nemaha in Sac county, the son of Frederick and Florence Hatch. He was baptized into the Christian faith at an early age. As a boy he attended country school in the rural Nemaha area. In his youth he became a member of the rural Bethel church and transferred his membership to Nemaha when the church was moved to town and remained a member of the Nemaha United Methodist church until the time of his death. He was baptized into the Christian faith at an early age. As a boy he attended country school in the rural Nemaha area. In his youth he became a member of the rural Bethel church and transferred his membership to Nemaha when the church was moved to town and remained a member of the Nemaha United Methodist church until the time of his death. On Feb 7, 1912, he was married to Tena Best at Storm Lake. Born to this union were one daughter, Stella, Mrs. John Heath of Hampton, and two sons, Elwood of Early and Cecil of Nemaha. Lester and his family lived in the rural Nemaha area where he farmed. He served on the Delaware township school board and as a Delaware township trustee for a number of years. He was a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, the Nemaha Booster club and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed declamatory speaking and play acting in the community. Much of his enjoyment was derived from farm life, his home and his family. He was a sincere, loving and devoted father, grandfather and greatgrandfather and celebrated 52 years of marriage. After moving from the farm Lester had lived at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake for five years and more recently at Park View Manor in Sac City. His health had been failing the past four years. He passed from this life Friday, Oct 13, 1972, at Loring hospital in Sac City at the age of 88 years and five days, terminating a full and active life that ended quietly and peacefully in death.
