Burial was made in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ethan, with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Burial was made in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ethan, with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Lester Nels Michaelsen was born Sept. 6, 1923, to Nels and Bertha (Braatz) Michaelsen on the family farm near Dimock. He attended country school near the homestead and graduated from Ethan High School in 1941. He moved to Sioux Falls, where he worked for John Morrell for a short period of time before moving back to the home place and helping his father on the farm. He was united in marriage to Luella Hieb Nolte on Jan. 22, 1955, at Parkston. They moved onto the home place and farmed until his retirement in 1983, when they moved into Parkston. In his retirement, he helped on many of his neighbors' farms, worked at Weisz Implement, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He died Sunday, April 18, at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. He attained the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife, Luella, Parkston; three daughters, Betty Marshall, Parkston, Susan Beukelman and husband, Duane, Mitchell, and Carol Michaelsen and husband, Al Thomson, Arlington, Va.; five grandchildren, Renee Haskall and husband, Johnathon, Mitchell, Stephen Beukelman, Mitchell, Matthew Beukelman, Mitchell, David Beukelman, Mitchell, and Luis Elizondo-Thomson, Austin, Texas; and a sister, Dorothy McAllister, Timley Park, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Alicia Joy Beukelman; and two sisters, Marjorie Prickett and Edna Doty.
