| Description | : | Lester Harter joined up in 1918 to fly a DH-4 in the First World War. He was shot down over Jarny, France on Sept. 18, 1918. He held a hand scribbled note in his hand, which was found with his body where he had jumped from the plane before it crashed. His mother, who had lost two other children in 1917 and 1918, traveled to visit his grave and died herself onboard the ship returning home.
