Burial was at the Pleasant Hill cemetery, rural Aurelia. Lester died Wednesday, September 27, 1995 at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee. Lester Virgil Peekenschneider was born September 27, 1917 in Aurelia, the son of Herman and Louise (Mohn) Peekenschneider. Lester Virgil Peekenschneider was born September 27, 1917 in Aurelia, the son of Herman and Louise (Mohn) Peekenschneider. He was educated in country schools, and on March 19, 1942 he married Hattie Sprouse in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked for many years as a farm hand, owned and operated Les's Dray Line in Aurelia, and worked for the rail- road for a short time. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church in Aurelia where he was a Trustee and worked as the custodian for many years. Preceding Lester in death were his parents, four brothers, Hugo, Harry, Art, and Walter, and four sisters, Wilhelmine Nelson, Alma Oatman, Edna Bumann, and Lillie Bumann. Lester is survived by his wife Hattie of Cherokee, one son, Lyle and his wife Nancy of Cedar Falls, five grandchildren, Lyle, David, Susan, Jean, Scott, and Dean, one sister, Hilda Koth of Aurelia, and one brother-in-law, George Bumann of Storm Lake, and many nieces and nephews.
