Bush, 77, of Cleghorn, Iowa, died Sunday, February 28, 1999 in the Marian Health Center, Sioux City, Iowa, following an extended illness. He was born April 7, 1921 in Cherokee, Iowa to Jacob and Lillian (Kirchoff) Bush. He attended school at Maryhill. On January 6, 1942 he married Mary Ann Nilles in Remsen, Iowa. They lived and farmed in rural Cleghorn for 56 years. Lester was a member of the Maryhill Visitation Church, served on the Meriden-Cleghorn School board for several years, was a delegate and secretary for the American Milk Producers Incorporated. Lester enjoyed traveling and also snowmobiling. Survivors include his wife; 3 sons: Ronald Bush, and his wife Gayla, of Quimby, Iowa; Philip Bush, of Cleghorn, Iowa; and Les Bush, of Montivideo, Minnesota; six daughters!- Shirley Navrude, and her husband Stan of Sioux City, Iowa; Elaine Kaltved, and her husband David of Esterville, Iowa; Sharon Geary, and her husband Clarence of Frisco, Texas; Barbara Butler, of Omaha, Nebraska; Sandra Tuttle, and her husband Tim of Aurelia, Iowa; Jacqueline Bush and Scott Reinert, of Cherokee; 22 grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Julie Wooley, of Cherokee; two brothers: Jim Bush, and his wife, Eileen; and Leland Bush, and his wife Erma all of Cleghorn, Iowa; four sisters-inlaw: Phyllis Jaminet, of Cherokee; Margaret Grage, and her husband Ray of Remsen; Julia Niles, of LeMars; and Doris Bush, of Sioux City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael in 1981, one brother, Henry Bush, and his step-father, Chester Peck.
