Leta died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Avera Creighton Hospital. Leta B. Brandt, daughter of Donley and Lida (Cool) Brandt, was born April 4, 1922, at a farm 11 miles west of Creighton. She attended country school at Knox County Mars District 28. She graduated from Creighton High School in 1939 and earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State College. Leta’s first teaching position at a country school began in the winter of 1942. She married Wendell Morrill on June 2, 1945, at Neligh. Two children were born to them, Linda and Helen. Leta and Wendell lived and farmed 12 miles west of Creighton. They also owned and operated Dodd’s Oil in Royal for several years. She was meticulous in keeping the books for the gas station and the farm. She did her own taxes every year, including this year. They retired from farming and moved to Creighton in 1989. She had been a member of United Methodist Church in Creighton since 1956. She was a member of the Methodist Women’s Group at her church. Leta’s passion was reading, often reading the same book several times. Survivors include her daughter, Helen (Steve) Davis; grandsons, Greg (Tina) Oliverius and Doug Oliverius; four great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Morrill; brother, Archie (Ardella) Brandt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; daughter, Linda; parents, Donley and Lida; sister, Mildred; brother, Doyt (Violet) Brandt; brothers-in-law, Keith (Sarah) Morrill, Dale (Carol) Morrill, Robert Morrill and Max (Janet) Morrill.
