Read More	Letha Irene (Hughard) Dixon 1919 - 2008 SPRINGVIEW, Neb. — Letha Irene (Hughart) Dixon was born Nov. 24, 1919, to Jeptha and Mable (Jones) Hughart in Witcherville, Ark. She passed away Nov. 19, at her ranch home near Springview, Neb., at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 26 days. Irene attended school in Greenwood, Ark., in her early years and then South Western Bible College in Enid, Okla. She remembered her personal acceptance of Christ as her Savior at age eight and enjoyed re-telling it to her family and others many times. Irene met her lifetime companion, Howard Dixon, in Bible College and they were married on July 13, 1941. Irene planned her home church wedding in detail. She hand-sewed her wedding dress, and the bridesmaid dress for her sister, as well as cut and sewed the dresses for four other bridesmaids; her sewing room was her haven. Her four daughters were always well-dressed in their growing up years. A son also graced this marriage. Howard and Irene set up housekeeping in Twin Falls, Idaho. The local pastor opened an apartment in their private home. The next move was to Mountain View, Ark. This was their first full-time pastorate. They also pastored in Big Flat, Ark. Howard returned to college in Pasadena, Calif., where they lived three years. Their next pastorate took them to Westerville, Neb. followed by Wood Lake, Neb. Irene made many close friendships with her good spirit and was told recently by one of the ladies, "you were my role model." When the family was raised and married, Irene had time to start a new hobby, oil painting. This again became her chief pastime. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Howard, four daughters, Ruth Davidson and husband Paul of Barneveld, N.Y., Mary Keller and husband Paul of Great Bend, Beverly Piper and husband Warren of Lincoln, Neb., and Janice Sykes and husband Jerry of Kansas City; one son, Todd Dixon and wife Tracy of Lincoln, Neb.; four sisters, Ilene Christian and husband Nolan of Tulsa, Okla., Dorotha Albritton and husband Bill of Fort Smith, Ark., Norma Johnson, and Wilma Jo Hughes and husband Jack, all of Fort Smith, Ark.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth, Neb., with Pastors Jesse Meduna, Dwight Sandoz and Gary Graesser officiating. Music was provided by Carolyn Krausch. "I've Got a Mansion" was sung by Irene's daughters, Ruth, Mary and Beverly, as well as "The Holy City," sung by her granddaughter, Christine Greco. Piano selections were also played as a tribute to Irene by her daughter, Mary. Casket bearers were Ben Weston, Paul Davidson, Paul Keller, Warren Piper, Jerry Sykes and Todd Dixon. Honorary casket bearers were Kevin Schoettger, Ivan Farlin, Orrin Thiede, Frank Williams, Tim Cook, Carlyle "Buz" Cook, Chet Willkins and Dallas Krausch. Interment was at the Ainsworth Cemetery.
