She was a daughter of the late Olee Lee and the late Bessie Pate Lee and was the widow of the late J. C. Matthews. Mrs. Matthews was a charter member of the Family Worship Assembly in Coward where she remained very active in church activities and was a retired sewing - machine operator. She was a daughter of the late Olee Lee and the late Bessie Pate Lee and was the widow of the late J. C. Matthews. Mrs. Matthews was a charter member of the Family Worship Assembly in Coward where she remained very active in church activities and was a retired sewing - machine operator. She was also very dedicated to her family. Mrs. Matthews loved to cook and feed them every chance she got. She never met a stranger and loved all her friends dearly. Mrs. Matthews surviving family includes her daughter, Patricia Matthews of Coward; her son, James Matthews (Beth) of Effing-ham; her brother, J.T. Lee (Juanita) of Florence; her sister, Janie Lee Kosh of Effingham; her two grand-daughters, Teresa Powell (Corbett) of Coward and Leslie Matthews of Lamar; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Matthews will have visitation from six until eight o'clock p.m., Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 in the Family Worship Assembly in Coward. Funeral services for Mrs. Matthews will be held at four o'clock p.m., Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 in the Family Worship Assembly. Burial will follow in The Bible Temple Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Family Worship Assembly, 4311 U.S. Highway 52, Coward, South Carolina 29530. Brockington Funeral Ho-me, Lake City, is in charge.
