Description	:	Letha Lorraine (Steiger) Kamler was born to Max Steiger and Freda (Issler) Steiger on July 1, 1921, at Grafton and passed away April 15, 2008, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva at the age of 86 years, nine months and 14 days. She was one of 14 children in the family. Letha went to country school near Sutton and graduated from Sutton High School in 1938. Read More	Letha Lorraine (Steiger) Kamler was born to Max Steiger and Freda (Issler) Steiger on July 1, 1921, at Grafton and passed away April 15, 2008, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva at the age of 86 years, nine months and 14 days. She was one of 14 children in the family. Letha went to country school near Sutton and graduated from Sutton High School in 1938. She took the normal training study in high school to become a teacher and attended Kearney College for a year. She taught school for six years in two different country schools. Albert Kamler was an older gent she met while teaching in a country schoolhouse close to the Kamler farm. They were married in a private ceremony on May 27, 1947. They were blessed with two children, a daughter, Sharon Wengler of Hastings and a son, Charles Kamler. Together the family farmed for a living, raising dry-land crops and having livestock. Letha was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, which has always played a big role in her life. She enjoyed four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Although Albert and Letha enjoyed traveling over the years, she said their greatest joy came from the work they did each and every day on the farm. They built a house in Geneva when it came time to retire and Letha enjoyed caring for her home. Albert died in 1992, and Letha continued to live in her home. Letha went to live at Heritage Crossings on August 16, 2006, where she passed away, surrounded by her family. Letha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Gary Wengler of Hastings; daughter-in-law, Sheila Kamler of Ohio; granddaughters and husbands, Lorraine and Chad Anderson of Lincoln; Sharyl and Cory Priester of Grand Island; Rachelle and Kirk Beeman of Lincoln; C. Patrick Kamler of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony and Alyssa; brothers, Gerald Steiger of Hastings, and Roger Steiger of Peoria, Ill.; sisters, Cleo Snow of Glenvil; Gretche Griess of Lincoln; ValJean Reinsch of Geneva, and Deanna Thornberg of Loveland, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and sisters; her husband, Albert and her son, Charles. A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Geneva, April 18, and was officiated by Father Michael Morin, and a rosary service was held the prior evening at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, also led by Father Michael Morin. Carol Prater accompanied the congregation in the singing of "O Paradise," "On This Day O'Beautiful Mother" and "Holy God We Praise Thy Name." Pallbearers were Chad Anderson, Cory Priester, C. Patrick Kamler, Gayle Dean Steiger, Randy Kleinschmidt and Russell Kleinschmidt. Interment was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal April 23, 2008 page 3. Contributor: M.
