At her home at Mulberry, on Friday the 26th of June 1891, Mrs. L. J. Brown after a sickness of some length passed away. She was buried Saturday at Xroads church, Revs. Hall and Stike conducting the services. She was the daughter of Ezekiel Brown, and was born October 15, 1835. In the year 1851, July 31, she was married to Adam Absher. To this union was born Geo. W., Lewis, Lundy, Candace, Mary, and Nancy. Of these, three--Geo., Candace and Mary--are dead, having died within less than the last five years. Mr. Absher died during the war from a wound, and after the war, about 1866, Mrs. Absher was again married, this time to John A. Brown. She was connected with the Primitive Baptist church at the early age of about 15, and remained a faithful and conscientious member till death. Her husband, Mr. Brown, survives her, but at this writing is very low, and it is feared he may not recover. --The Chronicle (Wilkesboro, NC), July 1, 1891, p. 4
