Shipley, son of Claus and Grace (Adams) Shipley, was born July 24, 1909 in Oak, Nebraska, and passed away Friday, October 13, 1995, at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Oak School. May 20, 1937, in Smith Center, Kansas, he married Mable Dunken. Leverle farmed in the Angus area then later farmed northwest of Nelson. He moved to Nelson in 1964 and worked for the Nuckolls County Maintenance Department for 27 years. He is a past member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows - Nelson Lodge. Preceding him in death were his wife, Mable, who died March 8, 1994; a grandson, Toby Lynn Biltoft; a great grandson, Ryan Novak; and a sister, Gladys Schaefe. Survivors include four daughters, Judith Kubicek and her husband Gerald of Schuyler, Nebraska, Carol Biltoft and her husband Gerald of Nora, Nebraska, Coleen Meyer and her husband Greg of Lexington, Nebraska, and Susan Shuck of Angus, Nebraska; one son, Michael and his wife Ardith of Monument, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Randy and Sheree Novak of Neligh, Nebraska, Bryan and Charlene Kubicek of Lincoln, Nebraska, Todd Biltoft of Greeley, Colorado, Shannon and Kevin Zebell of Kearney, Nebraska, Shane Meyer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Tuesday Shuck of Hastings, Nebraska, and Carissa Shipley of Monument, Colorado, and two great grandsons, Aaron and Nathan Novak; and nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, 1995, at 10:30 a.m. from Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by soloist Ruth Watts singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden" with Virginia Drohman as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Randy Novak, Todd Biltoft, Aaron Novak, Bryan Kubicek, Shane Meyer and Nathan Novak. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
