The remains of Mr. Lee Apple, for many years a prominent bottom farmer just below Dardanelle, and who moved to Cedar Hill, Tex., about three years ago, were brought here for interment yesterday following his tragic death Monday in Dallas Tex., when the truck he was driving was struck and demolished by a fast Texas & Pacific passenger train. Mr. Apple had driven from his home a few miles distant to take Mrs. Apple to Dallas, where she was to join Mr. and Mrs. Guy Childress and return with them to Dardanelle. Mr. and Mrs. Childress had been visiting their daughter, Mrs. Paul Apple. The tragic accident is said to have occurred when Mr. Apple, after stopping at a grade crossing to await the passing of a freight train, drove directly onto the track in front of the speeding passenger train. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. E.W. Faulkner and Rev. Z.T. Osborn, was held at New Hope, burial being in the New Hope Cemetery with the Cornwell Funeral Home in charge.
