Also according to his death record, his father was Levi Banner, born in Pennsylvania, and his mother, name unknown, was also born in Pennsylvania. Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," Received From Shaul Cemetery's Obituary Files: Levi H. Banner was born in Lyecoming [sic] county, Pennsylvania, May 16, 1846, coming to Iowa when a young man. He first located in Glidden where he was engaged in the retail business for more than twenty-five years. He was married to Miss Sarah J. Dickey in 1870 and two children were adopted, Clarence, of Lorenz and Mrs. Henry Krafka, of Ottumwa. Mrs. Banner preceded her husband in death in 1906. In 1911, Mr. Banner was married to Mrs. Mary E. Resser of Burlington. They made their home at 232 North Davis street, Ottumwa, where he died June 11, 1926. In early life, he united with the Methodist church and he was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and K. of P. Lodges. Besides his wife and two children, he is survived by a step son and daughter, William Hutchinson of Keokuk and Mrs. Levi Thompson of Jackson, Mich., also one sister, Mrs. Emma Rise of Omaha, Neb. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Carl Johnson chapel at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Luther Childs. Burial followed in the Shaul cemetery.–Contributed.
