Description	:	Levi R. Allen, probably the oldest resident of Sheridan, passed way yesterday evening at 7 o'clock, at his home, 36 Coffeen avenue. The remains were shipped this afternoon to Greenwood, Ia., where they will be laid to rest. Deceased was born at Glen Falls, N. Y., January 1, 1820, being 91 years and 12 days of age at the time of his death. At the age of 35 he left New York state for Iowa, settling in Turnbull in that state. The remains were shipped this afternoon to Greenwood, Ia., where they will be laid to rest. Deceased was born at Glen Falls, N. Y., January 1, 1820, being 91 years and 12 days of age at the time of his death. At the age of 35 he left New York state for Iowa, settling in Turnbull in that state. In 1869 the wanderlust again overcame him, and he emigrated to Nebraska, taking up a homestead in Cass county, in the southern part of the state, where he lived for twenty years. In '89 he moved to Kearney county in the same state, and after a three years; residence there returned to Cass county, where he resided until 1904. He came to Sheridan six years ago and has made his home in this city since. Deceased is survived by his wife and four children. One of the daughters resides in the state of Washington and one at Lincoln, Neb. Of the two boys, one makes his home at Greenwood, Ia., and the other, P. E. Allen, resides in this city, being an engineer in the employ of the Burlington. note: The obituary is copied exactly as written. He spent some time in Madison County, Iowa before going to Greenwood, Cass County, NE in 1869. I don't know if Turnbull refers to Trumbull, Ohio or to Trumbull Village 120 miles west of Greenwood. Levi's first wife, Polly Augusta Alvin, died in Warren County, NY in 1853. His second wife was Augusta L. Jones Alden, a widow with one son. Children by his first wife, Mary Molesta Allen Hilton and Elnora Augusta Allen Simmons were not mentioned in his obituary. Molesta was still living but Elnora had died in 1895.
