Levinena "Lee" Emma Ulrich, daughter of Theodore and Emma (Walz) Ulrich was born June 10, 1935 at Forbes, ND. This is where she grew up and attended school. She worked at the family bar and after the bar burned, Lee became employed at Kramlich's Café in Ashley, ND. She later moved to Eureka and worked at the Cal Cal Hotel. While working in Eureka, she met George Guthmiller and later moved to Aberdeen where she worked at the Club Café. Lee was united in marriage to George Guthmiller on August 16, 1953 in Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Ashley. They made their home on the Guthmiller homestead near Hillsview, SD. Lee was a farm wife and mother and in 1970 they left the farm and moved to Eureka. She went to work for the Eureka Lutheran Home as a nurse assistant and was an employee there until she retired in August 2009. Lee also worked at Tom's Place for ten years and The Eureka Bakery. She cleaned and butchered birds for hunters, (Pheasant, Chickens, Geese and Ducks) from 1970 to 2012. During her retirement years, Lee enjoyed trips to visit family, going to various casinos with friends, crocheting, making candy and attending craft shows. She would also help friends with rides to appointments or to the grocery store. Lee always had homemade candy for anyone that stopped for a visit. Lee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and VFW Auxiliary. Lee is survived by her children, Jerald Guthmiller, Anna Espelund, Dale Guthmiller, Glenda Atkinson, Carol Spitzer, Cindy Cuellar; brother, Avon Ulrich; sisters, Geneva Wickoren and Wanda Meidinger; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Leo Ulrich and two sisters, Mavy Keeler and Dianne Herr. Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka has been entrusted with arrangements.
