Evenson, son of Nelson and Jane Evenson, was born at Eureka, Kansas, August 7, 1890, and passed away at the farm home twelve miles northwest of Eureka, Sunday, May 4, at the age of fifty years. Mr. Evenson was baptized into the Christian faith in infancy and confessed his faith to the Lord in renewal of his baptismal covenant by the rite of confirmation in the Lutheran Church at the age of 15. Evenson, son of Nelson and Jane Evenson, was born at Eureka, Kansas, August 7, 1890, and passed away at the farm home twelve miles northwest of Eureka, Sunday, May 4, at the age of fifty years. Mr. Evenson was baptized into the Christian faith in infancy and confessed his faith to the Lord in renewal of his baptismal covenant by the rite of confirmation in the Lutheran Church at the age of 15. Mr. Evenson died in a sudden heart attack while busy doing the work at his farm home. His sudden death came as a great shock to his fanily and friends. Lewis E. Evenson was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Smith March 13, 1911. To them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy, Helen Ruth and Betty Jane. He is survived by his wife, eight children; Mrs. Monford Good and Mrs. George Wright of Eureka; Donald, Camp Robinson, Arkansas; Melvin, Russell, Kans.; Maxine, Norman Jean, Paul Leroy and Marilyn at home; one granchild, Opal Lucille Wright; his father, Nelson G. Evenson; one sister Mrs. Will Morris, Topeka; five brothers, Albert of Wichita, Kans., Ole, John, Chris and Alvin of Eureka; a number of other relatives. They together with many friends mourn his passing. Funeral services was held at the Baird Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, May 6, conducted by Rev. Frisble L. Young, Pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, interment was in the Ladd Cemetery. From Eureka Herald May 1941 CHILDREN 1. Bertha Evenson 1912 2.
