Christy Lewis Frank Christy, son of John and Christina Christy was born near Floris, Iowa, on August 15, 1860 and departed this life at his home in Bloomfield, January 1, 1940 at the age of 70 years four months and 17 days. Frank, as he was familarly known, spent his entire life in this commnity. He engaged in farming and stock raising until five years ago when he moved to Bloomfield, where he has since resided On January 11, 1888 he was united in marriage to Etta Mae Rector, who preceded him in death on Aug ust 21, 1922. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter; Wray, who recently moved to Burlington, Ralph and Cliff of Bloomfield and Mrs Joda Roberts of Blakesburg. Mr. Christy has nine grandchildren and is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Ira and Alvin of Floris, Mrs. Nora Dunlavy, Bloomfield and Mrs. Francis Mutchler of Newell, South Dakota. Mr. Christy was married to Sarah Bennett on October 11, 1927. Mrs. Christy and her six children survive Mr. Christy. The children are Goldie McCarroll, Minnie Lee, and Frank Bennett of Ottumwa, Beatrice Litton, Kansas City, Gertrude Werre, Los Angeles, Calif., and Leota Van Every, Reno, Nev. Mr. Christy was always tremendously interested in enterprises to forward the public welfare. He was one of the organizers of the Mutual Telephone Company and served six years as a member of the county board of supervi sors and as a director of the fair association for a number of year s. On his retirement from the fair association he was voted a life membership beginning March 3, 1903. Funeral services were held at the Wagler Funeral home on Wednesday, January 3, 1940, conducted by Rev. L.R. Hudson, at 1:30 p.m. Burial was made in the IOOF cemetery.
