Description	:	Mr. L. Gordon Kennerly, 79, of Aiken, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at St. Johns United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. George K. Howle officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. in the Wesley Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cordova. Pallbearers will be Bruce Hughes, Scott Anthony, Dan Keaton, Edwin Speed and Thomas Murden. Mr. Kennerly was born in Orangeburg, to the late Denzil F. and Connie Hughes Kennerly.¡ He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He moved to Aiken in 1953 and began working as a cost accountant with E.I. DuPont and subsequently Westinghouse. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, where he was in the Fellowship Sunday School class. He was also an avid gardener. Survivors include his beloved wife, Sylvia Ward Kennerly; his son, Lewis Gordon (Christy) Kennerly Jr., of Cordova; two grandchildren, Hannah Elise Kennerly and Lewis Gordon Kennerly III; and a stepgranddaughter, Kaitlyn Abigail Hay. The family will receive friends immediately following in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be directed to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St., Aiken, SC 29801.
