Read More	Bruckner Is Hit By Auto; Injury Fatal Unusual Accident Takes Place Sunday Night On West End of Boulevard Louis H. Bruckner, 16, son of Joe Bruckner, who resides on the island about seven miles east of Kearney, was almost instantly killed Sunday night when he was struck by an auto driven by Gerald Weliver, who lives about six miles east. The fatal accident took place about seven-thirty last night, near the western terminus of the Watson Boulevard. According to Weliver his friend Bruckner was riding on the rear of a Ford coupe, driven by Albert Brisben, with his brother, George, and two girls as companions. Weliver was following in his machine, a Chevrolet touring car. Nearing the west end of the paving, Weliver states, Bruckner suddenly catapulted to the road, either falling or undertaking to jump off his perch on the rear of the Ford. Weliver states that he applied his brakes and sought to swing out of the way, but he struck Bruckner and the latter was knocked down. Impact with the Weliver car or with the paving resulted in a compound fracture of the skull. The young man was rushed to the Good Samaritan hospital in the car of a passerby, Gerald Weliver accompanying him. He never regained consciousness and died within about a half hour. The Brisben car continued on its way, unaware that one of their party had fallen off or jumped from the rear of their machine. Brisben states he heard Weliver apply the brakes of his car, but thought the latter merely stopped to pick up Bruckner and brought him along. The sheriff and county attorney are making a thorough investigation of the case today, but up to the noon hour no steps had been taken to hold anyone or arrange for an inquest, which will in all probability be called for. According to the occupants of both cars neither were speeding, but moving along within the legal limit. The funeral of Bruckner will be held on Wednesday morning, at nine o'clock, from St. James church, Father Henry Muenstermann officiating. Burial will take place in the Prairie Center cemetery. The Bruckner family has been sorely stricken by death in recent years. Mrs. Bruckner died during the past year and two daughters preceded her in death since 1926.
