Siple.Lewis Justis Siple was born July 16th, 1829, in township Norwich, County Oxford, Ontario, Canada, and died in Tipton, Iowa, Tuesday, September 24th, 1912, aged 83 years, 2 months and 8 days.He grew up in Canada, and on December 3rd, 1856, was married to Miss Sarah Ann Monk. After five children had been born to this couple, they came to the "states," 46 years ago, and have been residents of Iowa since that time. They resided first on "Yankee" street. In 1900 they moved to Tipton, which has been home until the time of the decease.Eleven children have come to bless this home, four of them having been called away. The seven who remain are: Michael H., of Mitchell county, Iowa; Peter, of Oakley, Cal.; Cynthia Jane Welty, of Colorado; Fanny Knott of Colorado; Sarah Eliza Foresman, of Colorado; George Nicholas, of Tipton; and John, of Ida Grove, Iowa.He was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in the fall of 1858, while a resident of Canada and since he has taken up his residence in Tipton, he has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place. He has been in feeble health for a number of years, owing to the infirmities of old age, but was only taken seriously ill for about three weeks, when a fall in which he was hurt, caused him to be confined to his home, and for the last two weeks to his bed. His has been a familiar figure on our streets, which will be missed. He was the last of his family. He realized his end was near, and told his friends that he was ready to go. The funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church on Friday afternoon, with interment in the York Prairie cemetery.
