| Description | : | Lewis Outlaw was the son of Lewis Outlaw Sr. and Elizabeth (Whitfield) Outlaw. During the Mexican-American War he served as Sergeant in the North Carolina First Regiment of Foot Volunteers, Company B. This company was organized by Henry Roberts at Goldsboro in January 1847 and was called into service at Smithville on 1 February 1847 and was honorably discharged at Fort Monroe, Virginia on 28 February 1848. After his service in the Mexican-American War, he married Charlotte Smith. He was married a second time 7 July 1866 in Wayne County, North Carolina to Caty Herring. |
