Description	:	Lewis Napoleon Cloyd, son of George and Sarah Cloyd, was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky, May 7, 1854. He died at at his home in Nowata, OK at 6:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 1941. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Sam Wagner of the Bartlesville Church of Christ officiated, assisted by David Fultz of the Cedar Vale church, who offered prayer. Pallbearers were: Fay Webb, F. W. Webb, Max Montgomery, D. H. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Sam Wagner of the Bartlesville Church of Christ officiated, assisted by David Fultz of the Cedar Vale church, who offered prayer. Pallbearers were: Fay Webb, F. W. Webb, Max Montgomery, D. H. Acker, Arthur Lemert, and H. I. Johnson. Burial was in Cedar Vale cemetery. On Aug. 20, 1874, Lewis married Martha E. Lyons. They moved from Kentucky to Cowley County, Kansas in 1885 and lived in Kansas until 1911 when they moved to Oklahoma. To this union were born 13 children: Robert Lee, Lucy A., Samuel Thomas, Willie, Elzy, Sarah, Alva C., Anna Belle "Annie", Nell Rose, Bert, Grace M., Joseph Jerome, and Edward. At an early age Mr. Cloyd became a member of the Church of Christ, serving as a deacon in the early history of the Cedar Vale church. His wife preceded him in death in 1930. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Wilkinson, three sons, Elza, Bill, and Lee. Surviving at the time of his death were: five sons and four daughters - Thomas of Talala, OK, Mrs. Ed Lemert and Mrs. O. C. Sartin of Cedar Vale, Mrs. Nell Davis and Ed Cloyd of McAlester, Mrs. W. A. Richardson of San Antonio, Joe of Tulsa, Bert of Sayre and Alva of Eureka. He was also survived by one sister, Marguerite Richarson of Thompkinsville, KY; 27 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was a kind, loving and understanding husband and father. That he was his brother's keeper can be testified by all who knew him for he was always ready to help someone less fortunate to the extent of denying himself.
