Description	:	Lewis, a citizen of Jackson since 1880, came to Jackson with his family from Bainbridge, Ohio. His business was that of a carpenter, contractor and concrete block manufacturer, many of the best structures in Jackson having been erected by him, including the Cambrian Hotel. He was quiet and unassuming, but had a force of character that made all who came in contact with him to respect and admire him. Read More	Lewis, a citizen of Jackson since 1880, came to Jackson with his family from Bainbridge, Ohio. His business was that of a carpenter, contractor and concrete block manufacturer, many of the best structures in Jackson having been erected by him, including the Cambrian Hotel. He was quiet and unassuming, but had a force of character that made all who came in contact with him to respect and admire him. His honesty and integrity were unimpeachable and the city of Jackson has been made better by his having lived here. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Methodist Episcopal Church. During the Civil War Lewis served his country in the Union Army, as a private in Company F, 38th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was married to Sarah Blosser on October 3, 1867, who survived him. They had eight children, three of whom died in infancy. He was survived by five daughters: Mrs. N. E. Jones of Portsmouth, Ohio; Mrs. M. J. Mort, Mrs. Thomas Lowe and Mrs. Ida Will of Columbus, Ohio; and Mrs. Charles Charles of Jackson; twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
