Description	:	Lewis Chris Schmidt (1891 - 1976) Lewis Chris Schmidt, son of Henry and Bertha Wilke Schmidt, was born on a farm in Goodrich Township on June 27, 1891, and died Jan. 26, 1976, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 84 years, 6, months, and 29 days. Mr. Schmidt was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended rural schools. On Jan. 21, 1914, he was united in marriage to Frieda Schurke in Denison. They settled on a farm. Mr. Schmidt was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended rural schools. On Jan. 21, 1914, he was united in marriage to Frieda Schurke in Denison. They settled on a farm. Mr. Schmidt was a trustee of Otter Creek Township, where he farmed until retiring in 1964, at which time they moved to Denison. Mrs. Schmidt died Oct. 21, 1968. He continued to live in his home in Denison until about a year ago when he entered Eventide, due to ill health. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frieda, two brothers, George and Robert, and a sister, Emma (Mrs. Wm. Schurke). Survivors include his sons, Arlo and Virgil, both of Denison, four grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with Reverend Robert Maschke officiating. Pallbearers were Lodean Schmidt, Jimmy Schmidt, Walter Miller, Harry Petersen, Octavus Grill, and Kenneth Thams.
