Read More	Lewis Walkner June 14, 1887 - May 22, 1910 Renwick Times May 26, 1910 (page 5) DEATH OF LEWIS WALKNER Lewis Walkner was born June 14, 1847 near Renwick and died at his home in this place Sunday forenoon, May 22nd 1910, just a few minutes before 12 o'clock. His boyhood and manhood were spent in this vicinity where he was well known and greatly esteemed by all. March 3rd 1897 he was united in marriage to Emma Klasse. Their first home was a farm north of Renwick, but in a few years they erected a cozy cottage here where they resided at the time of death. February 16th 1904 Mr. Walkner and his estimable wife united with the Baptist church of which they have ever since been faithful members. For many years past Mr. Walkner has been in poor health, suffering from fatal malady, pernicious anemia, but not until three years ago did they realize the disease was firmly seated. Skilled physicians', trained nurses, and hospital treatment, combined with the unceasing care of a loving wife were to no avail. As the name implies, the disease was fatal - incurable. Their efforts were in vain. And so after years of suffering the end came. Peacefully and calmly he passed from this world to his heavenly beyond. Lewis Walkner was a bravely just, a courageously truthful, a scrupulously honorable and upright man. he died as he lived - bravely, sublimely, heroically - content to abide the final judgment upon the record of his life as it had been lived from day to day. He leaves a grief stricken wife, an aged, loving mother, four brothers and a sister to mourn his loss. Thus over another happy home the shadow of a grave has fallen. the battle of life is over. we sit in the shadow and mourn for the life that was ours for a short time but which God has seen fit to take back, to call home to infinite rest. The funeral services took place at the Baptist church Wednesday p.m., conduced by Rev. Nicholson. The Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen attended in a body and performed the rites at the cemetery. the beautiful floral pieces - offerings of sympathy from lodges and friends - were emblems of the respect and esteem in which the departed was held. A devoted husband, a loving son, a true friend has gone, but the memory of a noble character, an unselfish life, a true Christian remains. Transcribed by; Kim Haukoos
