Heath, a well-known citizen of Waxhaw, Union county, died suddenly, yesterday, at 12:30 o'clock, at the home of his brother, Mr. O. P. Heath, of Elizabeth Heights. He was sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch, conversing with his brother, when the summons came. Without speaking the workd that was on the end of his tongue he threw his hands to his breast, immediately over his heart, and fell back, gasping for breath. It was all over in a second. The messenger of death had arrived. His heart had failed. Mr. Heath came here last Friday night and spent the night at the home of Dr. W. O. Nisbet, on North Tryon street. Saturday he went out to Mr. O. P. Heath's and remained until yesterday morning, when he died. He was on his way home from Albemarle, where he had been on business. The remains will be carried to Monroe, this morning, and be buried there at 10 o'clock to-morrow. The body remained at the home of Mr. O. P. Heath last night. Mr. Allen Watson Heath was one of the leading business men of this section of the South. By working and saving he had accumulated considerable property. He was 66 years old and leaves the following named brothers: Mr. J. P. Heath, of Camilla, Ga.; Dr. M. C. Heath, of Richmond, Ky.; Mr. E. J. Heath, of Matthews; and B. D. and O. P. Heath, of Charlotte. His wife, who was Miss Nannie J. Crowe, died four years ago. His children are: Mr. W. C. Heath, of Monroe; Messrs. Frank and Claude Heath, of Albemarle; Mr. Earle Heath, of Waxhaw; Mrs. W. O. Nisbet, of Charlotte; Mrs. Maud Massey, of Bishopville, S. C.; Mrs. Florence Stokes, of Winnsboro, S. C., and Mrs. Daisy Bivens, of Pickens, S. C. Mr. Heath was born in Lancaster county, South Carolina, and came of good sturdy stock. He fought through the civil war and was a bold, brave Confederate soldier. He bleonged to Company A of the Sixth South Carolina Regiment. As a man of affairs, Mr. Allen W. Heath was a brilliant success. He was industrious, conservative and always willing to back his judgement with his money. His estate is estimated to be worth any where from $300,000 to $500,000. He was interested in the following named concerns: Cotton mills at Henrietta, Newton, Monroe, Charlotte and Lando, S. C., in the Piedmont Wagon Works, at Hickory; the Heath-Morrow Company, at Pickens, S. C.; the Heath-Massey-Morrow Company, at Bishopville, S. C.; Morrow Brothers & Heath Company, at Albemarle; the Heath-Freeman Company, at Norwood; the Piedmont Buggy Company, at Monroe; the People's Bank, at Monroe; the Waxhaw Banking & Mercantile Company, at Waxhaw and others.
