Description	:	Edward was a U.S. Army soldier for ten years. Vancouver Independant - March 5, 1890 Lieut. E. H. Clark, of Co. H, 1st Reg., N. G. W., was buried with military honors Thursday, Feb. 27th. Lt. Westhoff commanded the escort, a set of non-commissioned officers acted as pall bearers, Captain Charles Hutacheck, Hosp., Seward Russell and the remainder of the company following the remains. Wilson officiating, and were very impressive. Vancouver Independant - March 5, 1890 Lieut. E. H. Clarke, Co. H, 1st Reg. N. G. W, who was also assistant chief engineer of the fire department, was buried in the firemen's lot in the city cemetery. Vancouver Independant - March 12, 1890 Vancouver Wash. Feb. 26, 1890. Whereas, It has seemed good to the almighty Disposer of events to remove from our midst out late worthy and esteemed fellow member E. Clark, late 1st Asst. Chief Eng, and Whereas the intimate relations long held by the deceased with the members of this fire dept. render it proper that we should place upon record our appreciation of his services as a fireman and his merits as a man there fore be it. Resolved that we deplore the loss of E. Clark with deep feelings of regret, softened only by the confident hope that his spirit is with those who having fought the good fight here are enjoying perfect happiness in a better world, there fore be it. Resolved that we tender to his afflicted relations our sincere condolence and our earnest sympathy in thier affliction at the loss of one who was a good citizen a devoted fireman and an upright man, therefore be it. Resolved that the members of this Department will attend our deceased member to the grave in a body that the engins houses be hung with the emblems of mourning until after the funeral ceremony shall have been performed and that the Halls of meeting be draped in mourning, thirty days therefore be it. Resolved, that a copy of the fore going resolution signed by the President and certified by the Secretary be transmitted to the relatives of the deceased. No. 1, held on the 8th inst: Whereas, The great Ruler of the Universe, has in his infinite wisdom, removed from our ranks our esteemed fellow fireman, E. H. Clarke, and Whereas, By his death, a devoted wife is left a widow, and this Company has lost one of its most faithful and energetic members, therefore be it Resolved, That we extend to the widow, and relatives of the deceased our sincerest sympathy in this their hour of sorrow accompanied with the earnest hope that even so great a bereavement may be overruled for their highest good, and be it further Resolved, that these resolutions be presented to the family of our late brother, and a copy sent to each of the city papers for publication, also that they e spread on the records of the Company.
