Description	:	George the husband of Janet Norris, loving father of Michelle Norris of Los Angeles California, the son of George L. Norris and Mona G. Norris, dear brother of Lana N. Norris of Cantril Iowa; enlisted in the US Marine Corps on May 27 1966 and upon completion of Officers Candidate School was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant (Reserve) at Quantico Virginia. On extended active duty he arrived in Vietnam on May 4, 1967 where he was assigned to and served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF. During the month of April the Battalion was deployed on Operation NAPOLEON/SALINE in northern Quang Tri Province. On April 30, an LCU came under fire from An Lac and elements of Company B were ordered across the Song Bo Dieu (River) to engage the enemy. Boarding LVT’s the Marines began to cross the river and half way across to the north shore the river bank exploded with automatic weapons and rocket propelled grenade fire. The vehicles managed to reach the shore and the men engaged the enemy in a battle that would last for several days. Six men were killed in the action, including two Officers, 1stLt George Norris and 2dLt John Odell both were killed by hostile rifle fire.
