Harvey Lawrence Sexton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Enos W. Sexton, of Yates Center, will be held in the Dunlap Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Ira Nicklin. An American Legion post will be in charge of services at the grave in the Dunlap cemetery. Lieutenant Sexton was born in Americus November 15, 1919. He grew up near Dunlap, and was graduated from the Dunlap High school in 1937. He was in California a year and a half before entering the service. He was inducted in October, 1941 and received his preliminary training in the Field Artillery. He was stationed in Hawaii in that branch of service for more than a year. He was then transferred to the Air Corps and received training as a bombardier in Victorville, Calif., graduating September 2, 1944. He became a member of the Eighth Air Force and was sent to England. When returning from his 15th mission the plane he was in collided with another resulting in his death April 11, 1945. Lieutenant Sexton was a member of the Dunlap Methodist church. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Shirley Houtz, of Wichita, and a brother, Donald L. Sexton, of Kansas City, Mo. Harvey Lawrence Sexton, formerly of Dunlap, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Dunlap Methodist church. The Rev. Ira Nicklin, of Horton, a former pastor here, was in charge of the service. Miss Marilyn Merrill and Miss Shirley Gibson sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lois Wirsig. Military honors were provided by members of Company B, National Guard, of Emporia. The color guards were Ralph Jones, Jack Milsap, Leon Austenfelt, Jack Hughes and W.H. Steele. Thomas Lowe, of Emporia, was the chaplain. Pallbearers were Gilbert Houtz, Junior Johnson, John McGrew, Wallace Miller, Ralph Hayes and Melvin Whitaker. Burial was in the Dunlap cemetery. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Orr, Miss Shirley Gibson, Miss Marilyn Merrill and Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Sexton, Yates Center; Mrs. Alice Klock, Mrs. Enoch Walls, Mrs. Mabel Tipton and Francis Klick, Toronto, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lamb and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Houtz, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hylton, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hylton, Mr. and Mrs. Guilford Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McAtee and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Munkres, Council Grove; Donald Sexton, Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Jr. Edminston, Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Warnser, Marjorie Warnser and Mrs. Margaret Gordon, Emporia.
