The aircraft had left the base at Stornara Field, Italy, 11 Nov 1944 on a combat mission with a northern course to bomb the target at Lynz Main M/Y. The planes were flying in formation over the Adriatic Sea and had entered a cloud bank, when the aircraft, along with one other B-24, entered a turn and went into a steep left bank due to unknown cause, and disappeared, and is believed to have ditched into the sea, losing all crewmen on board. The aircraft and crew remain MISSING IN ACTION and presumed Killed In Action.
