Koontz of St. Louisville, was killed in a fall of an airplane at Wichita TX Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The word of his death was received late yesterday afternoon by his mother, but no details of the accident were given. Lieutenant Koontz was commissioned at Ft. Benjamin Harrison about two years ago, and has been stationed at several southern camps. His father, P.F. Koontz, deceased, was an attorney at St. Louisville. His death occurred last August. Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Emma C. Koontz and one brother, Herbert A. Koontz of the home. The body will be brought to St. Louisville for burial but no arrangements been made. An Associated Press dispatch from Wichita Falls to The Advocate says that Lieutenant Koontz, who was a radio office at Post Field, Lawton, Okla., fell to his death at Call Field late Tuesday, his machine going into a side slip as he was leaving the field and falling about 200 feet. He had been here with a party doing cross-country work. The body will be sent to Newark, the dispatch says. Later article: The body of Lieutenant Ralph Koontz, who was killed in an airplane accident at Wichita Falls, Tex., Tuesday, arrived here at 1:35 o'clock this afternoon and was taken in charge by L. N. Bradley and taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. Emma Koontz in St. Louisville, where the funeral services will be held Monday at 2 o'clock in the Lutheran Church and will be under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge 97 of Newark. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. As a mark of military respect the firing squad of the Old Guard will fire an honor salute at the grave. Burial took place at Wilson Cemetery.
