Sines died at his home in Chelan Tuesday morning, October 6h. The funeral was held yesterday. Samuel G. Sines was born in Ross Co., Ohio on December 9, 1837. When he was two years of age his parents moved to Indiana, where he grew to manhood. At the beginning of the civil war he enlisted in the 25th Illinois Volunteer Infantry on June 1, 1861, and was made first sergeant of Company B. He served almost to the end of the war, and was mustered out at Springfield on September 5, 1864. He served through all the hard campaigns in Kentucky, Tennessee and northern Georgia, and was in the battles of Pea Ridge, Corinth Stone River, Chickamauga, Mission Ridge, Noonday Creek, Pine Top Mountain, Chattahoochee, Peach Tree Creek and Atlanta. He was constantly on duty all through these actions, but with remarkable good fortune came through without a wound. After the war he returned to his home in Fountain Co., Indiana and engaged in farming. He was married there on November 17, 1868, to Miss Jane Alwood. They moved to Iowa in November, 1883, and settle near Adair, Iowa. He retired from the farm in 1891, and in 1909 came to Chelan, which has been his home ever since. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sines, two daughters and eight sons. Five of these live here and were present at the funeral. They are Mrs. W. M. Isenhart, Mrs. J. W. Culver, L. R. Sines, C. M. Sines and Grant Sines. The other children are; J. I. Sines and A. E. Sines, of Sioux City, Iowa; J. H. Sines, of Hector, Minn.; Geo. P. Sines, of Billings, Mont.; and Sherman Sines of Wisdom, Mont.
