Description	:	LILA ARLENE FRY Lila Arlene Fry, daughter of Elmer and Nellie Fry, was born July 9, 1916, and passed away at the Mary Lanning hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, February 23, 1941. She lived in the same farm home her entire life. She graduated from the Edgar high school in 1934, and attended the Peru State Teachers College for three years. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the Sigma Tau Delta and the Alpha Erudito, all scholastic sororities. She has taught school for almost five years and at the time of her death was teaching in the grades... She lived in the same farm home her entire life. She graduated from the Edgar high school in 1934, and attended the Peru State Teachers College for three years. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the Sigma Tau Delta and the Alpha Erudito, all scholastic sororities. She has taught school for almost five years and at the time of her death was teaching in the grades of the Ong school. She was a member of the Fairfield Chapter No. 244 Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Edgar Methodist Church. She was supervisor of one of the departments of the Daily vacation Bible school of Edgar for two seasons, and was formary (sic) Sunday school of her church. The church of Edgar will greatly miss the efficient service of this devoted young woman. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother and father, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoyt of Glenvil, Nebraska, several uncles, aunts and cousins who were very near and dear to her, also a dear friend from high school, Miss Eula Taylor, who has been devoted to her ever since. "It seemeth such a little way to me Across to that strange county, the Beyond, And yet not strange, for it has grown to be The home of those of whom I am so fond. They make it seem familiar and most dear As journeying friends bring distant countries near. And so to me there is o sting to death, And so the grave has lost its victory, It is but parting with abated breath And white sea face a narrow strip of sea To find the loved ones on the other shore More beautiful, more precious than before." The services were held in the Edgar Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. Raymond Rush, and the body was laid to rest in the Edgar cemetery. Four of her day school scholars at Ong where she taught acted as flower girls. A quartet of Fairfield consisting of Mrs. Ruth Scott, Mrs. Pearl Grimes, Clarnece Iliff and Ted Walters sang "There is No Night There" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Scott sang a solo "Prayer Perfect." Mrs. Ray Killion was at the piano. Pallbearers were: Joe McReynolds, Herman Hart, Everett Shaw, Cecil Keeney, Lowell Woods and Mervin Woods. (Source unknown)
