Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Java, with Pastor Susan Carr officiating. Burial follows at the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle, from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday. Lila Emma Weisgram, daughter of Emma (Bauman) and Anton Weisgram, was born July 30, 1916, at Java. She lived in Java until age 12, when she moved with her family to Bowdle. She married Fred C. Bieber at Bowdle on March 3, 1935. They farmed 3 miles SE of Java until August 1982 when they moved into Java. With the exception of wintering in Phoenix, Ariz., the last 25 years, Lila lived in Java the rest of her life. She was an active church member, belonging to the Altar Guild, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA), and teaching Junior Lutherans. She was a charter member of the Java Garden Club and belonged to the Sew and So Extension Club. She had a love of music, giving piano lessons and singing in church choirs in Java and Phoenix. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, cooking, baking, and shopping. In her later years, she created oil paintings of flowers and landscapes. Mrs. Bieber is survived by three sons, Harry G. Bieber and his wife, Virginia of Bismarck, N.D., Arlyn F. Bieber and his wife Janice of Kent, Wash., and Ross J. Bieber of Java; two sisters, Elsie Bentz and Celia Brunton of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 25, 1988, her father on Dec. 16, 1966, her mother on Aug. 5, 1981, and two brothers, Harry (in infancy) and Joe. Honorary bearers will be Douglas Weisgram, Alvin Bieber, and Steven Brunton. Casketbearers will be Harlan Mertz and Dale Bieber of Bowdle, Dean Mertz of Sioux Falls, Kurt Breunig of Billings, Mont., Joel Weisgram of Fargo, N.D., and Clarence Bauman of Bismarck, N.D.
