Description	:	Lila E. Smith, age 80, of Enterprise, departed this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Enterprise Estates Nursing Home in Enterprise. She was born February 23, 1936 the daughter of David L. and Ruth (Gessell) Smith on the Smith family farm one mile east of Enterprise, Kansas the youngest of six children, two sons and four daughters.She attended Enterprise Grade School and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1954 and from Brown-Mackie School of Business in Salina in 1955. She was born February 23, 1936 the daughter of David L. and Ruth (Gessell) Smith on the Smith family farm one mile east of Enterprise, Kansas the youngest of six children, two sons and four daughters.She attended Enterprise Grade School and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1954 and from Brown-Mackie School of Business in Salina in 1955. She spent her life as an insurance secretary/agent and a church secretary in Abilene and Enterprise.She was a lifetime member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church where she served 30 years as the Nursery Sunday School teacher, 25 years as both the Administrative Board and the Literature Secretaries as well as on other committees throughout the years.Lila was a member of the Dickinson County Historical Society where she volunteered twice monthly in the museum store. She was a member of the Double Dozen Homemakers Unit for many years until she moved to Abilene where she became a member of the Happy Homemakers Unit. She was also a member of the Abilene Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years as well as the American Business Women’s Association for several years.She was preceded in death by her brother David Smith; her sisters Betty Johnson, Helen Hettenbach; her parents, and brother-in-law Nels Johnson, JR.Lila is survived by her brother Delbert Smith of Wichita, Kansas; sister Joyce Bielefeld of Grand View Plaza, Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends.Funeral services for Lila will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Enterprise United Methodist Church in Enterprise with Reverend Hyeayoun Kim and Reverend Roger Walls officiating . Her final resting place will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery south of Enterprise. Friends may sign the register book until 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and until service time Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be given to the Enterprise United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
