Burial in the Victor/German Immanuel M E Cemetery south of Victor. Lila Lee Borg was the daughter of Clarence and Mabel Ginter Borg. She was raised in Davenport, Saugus, Massachusetts, and Victor, Iowa, and graduated from Victor High School in 1946. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She was married to Donald Rohrer on August 1, 1948 at the Victor Emmanuel Church. They were blessed with three daughters, Jeanne, Jane and Soonee, and foreign exchange daughter Beth. They resided in Victor throughout their married lives. Susie was an English and art teacher at HLV Schools. They were members of the Victor Emmanuel Church and the Victor United Methodist Church. Susie was a member of the Iowa Pen Women, Iowa Water Color Society and Society of Experimental Artists. She was also a member of the Victory Public Library Board, a humor columnist for Iowa Agri-News (“Notes from Exit 205”) and a correspondent for the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Susie will be remembered as a talented artist, a woman of strength who overcame many health issues, and for her optimistic “glass is half-full” way of thinking, her quick wit and sense of humor, and her love of family. She took advantage of many opportunities in life, especially traveling. She held a special love for poetry, music, playing cards, teaching and for the care of animals.
