She attended school at Octavia Elementary and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1958. After attending Wayne State Teachers College she began teaching in rural Butler County School Districts 9, 49 and 17 and David City Public Schools from 1971 until retirement in 1998. While at David City she taught upper elementary and Jr. High School. She also helped with the Gifted Program and served as Fine Arts Director from 1989-95. Lou took many educational tours that included Washington, D. C., England, France, Florida and California.
