Mrs. Whittle was born in Orangeburg County the daughter of the late Emmet Lee and Lex Chavis. She was retired from Bayview Baptist Church, Child Development Center in Columbia, S.C. (Amy) Whittle of Charleston, SC; great-grandsons, Evan and Chase Whittle of Charleston, SC; sisters, Gladys C. Martin and Vona Lee Williamson, of Woodford, SC and Ona Lee Chavis of West Columbia, SC; brother, Thomas Chavis of Summerville, SC and special cousin, Martha Dykes of Swansea, SC. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas E. Whittle, Jr.; son, Dale Alvin Whittle; sisters, Catherine C. Wood and Margaret C. Williams and brothers, Lee Roy Chavis, Emmet (Jr.) Chavis and Lee Conner Chavis. The children would like to thank her sisters, nieces and Vickie for the love and kindness shown to their mother. The family will receive friends at the graveside one hour before the service. Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
