Born June 6, 1914, in Denison, Iowa, Lillian was the daughter of Jerome and Ernestine (Clausen) Slechta. She graduated from Denison High School and was a country school teacher for a number of years before marrying Leonard Hansen of Schleswig on March 21, 1936, in Carroll, Iowa. Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Faye and Jim Wellendorf of Ida Grove; four grandchildren and their spouses, Sheri and Jeff Chandler of Ida Grove, Brad and Kristine Wellendorf of Rapid City, SD, Mike and Karen Palm of Valparaiso, IN, and Lisa and Joel Brownlee of Granbury, TX; six great-grandchildren, Amber Chandler, Landon Wellendorf, Sean and Heather Brownlee, and Ethan and Erin Palm; four sisters, Mildred Andersen, LaVerne Reisz and husband Bob, and Lucille Curnyn and husband Paul, all of Denison, and Shirley Clausen and husband Vernie of Wiser, ID; and two brothers, Vernus Slechta and wife Virginia of Cherokee, and Kenneth Slechta of Ida Grove. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard; one daughter, Beverly Palm; an infant granddaughter; four brothers, Leonard, Loyal, Chester, and Orville Slechta; and two sisters, Bernice Linden and Lois Holdsworth.
