Description	:	Lillian Estella Tift was born at Manhatten, Ill., Sept. 8th, 1859 and departed this life April 19th, 1930 at her home at 11 Second Street, NW, Oelwein, Iowa at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 11 days. At the age of 17 years she with her parents moved from Illinois to Iowa, settling on a farm near Sumner. Here she became a Christian and united with the Evangelical church. Read More	Lillian Estella Tift was born at Manhatten, Ill., Sept. 8th, 1859 and departed this life April 19th, 1930 at her home at 11 Second Street, NW, Oelwein, Iowa at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 11 days. At the age of 17 years she with her parents moved from Illinois to Iowa, settling on a farm near Sumner. Here she became a Christian and united with the Evangelical church. On March 25, 1879 she was united in marriage to the late Wheeler David Tift. They resided on a farm near Westgate and to this union were born three children, J. Dow, Samuel Earl and Minnie Belle. While living near Westgate she united with the Methodist Episcopal church. In 1897, the family moved to Sumner. Here she took her letter and united with the ME church of that place, remaining there for three years, then moved to Oelwein, which has since been their home. She has been in poor health for a number of years but her condition was not thought serious until the past few months. She leaves to mourn her loss two children, Samuel Earl, superintendent of schools in Litchfield, Minn., and Minnie Belle of Oelwein, one grandson John Heddens Tift, son of Samuel Earl, three sisters, Mrs. Malinda Dallenbach of Sumner, Mrs. Lizzie Crawford of Peotone, Ill. and Mrs. Sarah Lowry of Maynard and one half brother of Slater, Mo., besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the ME Church by Rev. Ralph Collis and Rev. J. C. Wanamaker. Burial was made in Woodlawn cemetery.
