Lillian Josephine (Nelson) Remme was born on November 29, 1915 in Canton, SD to Jorgen and Alice (Sjostrom) Nelson. She was raised in Canton and was educated there, graduating from Canton High School in 1933. She married Odean Remme on September 28, 1940 in Canton. Read More	Lillian Remme, 95, of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell, SD. Lillian Josephine (Nelson) Remme was born on November 29, 1915 in Canton, SD to Jorgen and Alice (Sjostrom) Nelson. She was raised in Canton and was educated there, graduating from Canton High School in 1933. She married Odean Remme on September 28, 1940 in Canton. Following marriage, they lived on a farm near Canton until the spring of 1947 when they moved to rural Platte, SD. They were together until Odean's passing in 1969. While living on the farm, Lillian began work part-time at the Platte Hospital as a nurse's aide, a doctor's assistant and a receptionist for an out-patient clinic. When the Platte Nursing Home opened in 1965, she was among the staff that worked the first day and continued her employment there for the next 21 years. She remained in Platte until moving to the Prairie Villa Assisted Living in Armour, SD in 2005. Due to health reasons, she became a resident of Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell, SD September, 2011. Lillian was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte, the Good Will Circle and the Hannah Circle. She also quilted with the Senior Citizens of Platte and was a member of the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidering, gardening and corresponding by letter with her family and friends. Lillian was preceded in death by: her husband, Odean; her parents; a brother, James Alfred Nelson; a half-brother, Gilbert Nelson and two half-sisters: Katie Renning and Igna McRae.
