At the age of 12, Lillian attended the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts in Minnesota. She married Neal H. Emery on Oct. 12, 1941, in Valley City. The couple made their home in Valley City. Her portraits are from every stations of life, including portraits of all ages and many North Dakota scenes. Survivors are her husband, Neal; a son Blair (Yvonne) Emery, Soldotna, Alaska; a daughter Dawn (Rev. James) Wright, Valley City; four grandchildren, Lisa Keys, Valley City; Rev. Brian (Bridget) Wright, Mott; Sarah (Rev. Corey) Warner, Mott; and Neal B. Emery, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren.
