Description	:	Lillian EDWARDS-RAVINE (1924 - 2016) Our beautiful, beloved mother, Lillian Edwards, ascended into the arms of the Lord on July 19, 2016. Lillian was born in Lewistown, Montana on February 22, 1924 to George and Isabelle Baumgartner. She was the only girl, having five brothers, all preceding her in death. Nin was her nickname for those close to her. She loved to be silly, having a charming wit that came from her Irish mother. She was a talented artist, musician, playing the piano and friend to many. Read More	Lillian EDWARDS-RAVINE (1924 - 2016) Our beautiful, beloved mother, Lillian Edwards, ascended into the arms of the Lord on July 19, 2016. Lillian was born in Lewistown, Montana on February 22, 1924 to George and Isabelle Baumgartner. She was the only girl, having five brothers, all preceding her in death. Nin was her nickname for those close to her. She loved to be silly, having a charming wit that came from her Irish mother. She was a talented artist, musician, playing the piano and friend to many. Nin loved music, dancing, the color red, swans and crafts (crocheting, painting, ceramics, sewing and could draw beautifully). She loved to be well dressed and put together, very much a lady with the heart of a tomboy. Her yard was full of her favorite flowers, in beds of her creation and statuary that she made herself. She kept an immaculate, welcoming home and yard. Lillian loved sitting on her deck either alone or with friends out in nature, entertaining. A cup of coffee or tea was always served. She was always happiest visiting with family and friends. Traveling and drives in the country were also a favorite thing to do. The family remembers many special picnics and days by lakes or the Spokane River with delicious food prepared by mom and dad. In 1946, Lillian married James Edwards, in a wedding gown crafted from James' WWII parachute. They lived in Lacey, Seattle, then Spokane where they settled and raised their family. Nin is survived by five children: Mike Edwards, Pat Hayenga, Paul Edwards, Tom Edwards and Tim Edwards, four daughters-in-law, Diane, Robin, Jane and Sue; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her face lit up when she saw her great grandchildren, especially when her great grandson danced to Bobby Darin. Her family was her greatest joy, giving of herself and talents by making birthdays and Christmas' always very special. She had a degree in Dietetics, using that to make healthy meals for her family, (adding just the right spices). At one time, Nin and Jim owned and operated two restaurants in Spokane, one being The Knights Diner! The tall jousting knight sign was their doing. Always an avid learner, she took an At-Home course in interior design having a natural talent for decorating. She had a special flare for making her house beautiful and continued learning new things her entire life. She read the newspaper daily, doing the crossword puzzle and jumble. Tops on her TV list was The Andy Griffith Show! A devoted Catholic she attended Mass online everyday when she could. For 25 years plus, Nin belonged to Valley Senior Center where she took part in aerobics exercise classes. That is where she also took ceramics classes, danced, took part in plays, went on short trips with other members, something she thoroughly enjoyed. She continued at the new Valley Community Center For the last few years, she belonged to a "latte" group that met several times a week. They became close friends, giving support and helping pass the time. Always a mom, a good friend and very generous to all, kind and compassionate. We love and miss her so very much. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. John Vianney Parish Center, 503 N. Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley 99206.
