Services will be held at noon Thursday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Lillian was born Sept. 6, 1914, in Gibbs Township to Henry A. and Delia (Layne) Gabel. She lived on the farm and attended Gibbs School, finishing the eighth grade. She attended high school at St. Mary's in Bismarck, and then attended Ellendale Normal. Lillian taught school at Moffit and St. Anthony. She worked at the St. Alexius hospital in central supply for many years until her retirement. Lillian loved to visit and play cards, and she truly loved her grandchildren. She lived with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, Jami, for 14 years. For the last year and a half, she had resided at B's Elder Care in Bismarck. She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Lorraine and Bill Burtts, Hazelton, Elaine Becker and her soulmate, Jack, and Darlene "Dee" Wahl, all of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Cindy Schmidt and Jami Wahl, both of Hazelton, Clayton Burtts, Jacksonville, N.C., Connie Falkenstein and Tim Becker, both of Bismarck, Raymond Becker, Richardton, and Tascha Bittner, Fargo; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Norma) Gabel, Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Fred Bailey, Bismarck; and one sister-in-law, Mary Gabel, Anniston, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; two sons-in-law, Clifford Becker and James Wahl; three sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson, Margaret "Peggy" Schlimgen and Phyllis Bailey; and three brothers, Arthur, Lloyd "Happy" and Vernon "Bud." The family of Lillian would like to thank Bernice for caring for their mom.
