Services and burial will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 10:30 am at St. Wencelaus Catholic Church in rural Clutier. Read More	Lillian M. Kucera, 94 of Colorado Springs, Colo. and formerly of Traer, died Wednesday, June 17 at Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs, Colo. of congestive heart failure. Services and burial will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 10:30 am at St. Wencelaus Catholic Church in rural Clutier. She was born May 18, 1915 to Vince and Julia (Salasek) Axler on a farm south of Traer. She attended Perry No. 5, (Stormy Point) country school and in 1929 graduated from 8th grade as one of the two top scholastic students in the county. In 1933 she graduated from Traer High School with a teaching certificate and taught country school in Clark and Crystal Township for four years. On September 20, 1937, she married Emil L. Podhajsky of Clutier, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic church, Clutier and together they established a new set of buildings in Carroll Township. They farmed together until January 14, 1963 when Emil was killed in an auto accident. On December 28, 1965, she married Anthony Kucera. In 1971, they moved to a new home on Thomas Drive in Tama. Anthony died August 1981. Lillian continued living in Tama until February, 2000 when she moved to Fountain Colo. to be closer to her daughter. While living in Iowa, Lillian was involved with volunteer work devoting countless hours to sewing quilts for church projects. She was a member of the KD Lodge #130, St Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Clutier and later St. Patrick's Church, Tama, President of Carroll & Toledo-Tama Township Homemakers, active in Farm Bureau, Senior Citizen Congregate meals and served on the Care Review Board at Grandview Acres, now Carrington Place. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Hattie Hanousek; a brother, Elmer Axler; both her husbands, Emil Podhajsky and Anthony Kucera; and a step-daughter, Marjorie Upah. She is survived by her daughter, Marcella (Bill) Pults of Colorado Springs; her son, Loren (Cathy) Podhajsky of Olathe Kansas; five grandchildren; three sisters, Ida Kosnar and Julia Kubik of Traer and Martha Kubik of Cedar Rapids; step-children Ernest Kucera of Tama, Tony (Carolyn) Kucera, Jr. of Madison, Wisc., Mae Steffen of Verona, Wisc., Carolyn Massey of DeKalb, Ill. and Gerry (Patti) Kucera of Cedar Rapids; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
