Description	:	THOMASTON — Lillian Eaton, 92, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, surrounded by her family and in the loving care of the staff on the skilled unit at Knox Center for Long Term Care. Born in Boothbay on Feb. 4, 1919, she was the daughter of Herbert H. and Ruth Corey Thurston. She graduated from Thomaston High School in 1937. In 1941 Lillian entered the RN nursing program at Waldo County General Hospital and graduated at the top of her class in 1944. Read More	THOMASTON — Lillian Eaton, 92, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, surrounded by her family and in the loving care of the staff on the skilled unit at Knox Center for Long Term Care. Born in Boothbay on Feb. 4, 1919, she was the daughter of Herbert H. and Ruth Corey Thurston. She graduated from Thomaston High School in 1937. In 1941 Lillian entered the RN nursing program at Waldo County General Hospital and graduated at the top of her class in 1944. Lillian worked at Knox County General Hospital as a head nurse from 1955 to 1975 and made the move to Penobscot Bay Medical Center, retiring from nursing in 1984. After retiring she delivered cars to and from dealerships for Fuller Cadillac. Lillian was predeceased by her first husband, James E. McNeil; and her second husband, Ernest Eaton Sr.; her only brother, Edward Thurston; and her sister, Gwen Robinson. She is survived by two sons, James E. McNeil and his wife, Esther, of Rochester, Minn., and Michael McNeil and his wife, Deborah, of Rockland; two daughters, Judith Galipeau and her husband, Paul, of Warren and Ruth Carney and her husband, James, of Thomaston; three sisters, Elizabeth Kenniston of Falmouth, Louise Kelly of Bernard and Dorothy Thurston of Grand Rapids, Mich. Lillian had 10 grandchildren, Michael McNeil of Alaska, Daniel McNeil of Florida, Maria Cristina McNeil Meyer of Minnesota, Carmine McNeil Greenrose of Union, Jennie McNeil of Waldoboro, Macy McNeil Griffin of North Carolina, Hunter Galipeau of Warren, Anna Carney Moorman of Thomaston, and James Carney and Mitchell Carney, both of Thomaston. Lillian had 13 great-grandchildren, Ryan McNeil, Owen McNeil, Olivia McNeil, Leyna Meyer, Brooke Meyer, Nicholas Russell, Leah Russell, Lainey Griffen, Duncan Widdecombe, Hanna Widdecombe, Alex Greenrose, Isaac Greenrose and Carter Moorman; as well as several nieces and nephews. Interment will be private at the Village Cemetery in Thomaston. (Republican Journal 8/18/2011)
