Read More	Lillian Virginia Mixon Mihalakis, 79, a beloved mother and the widow of George Contontoes Mihalakis, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at her daughter’s residence. Mrs. Mihalakis was born the daughter of Daniel Gary Mixon and Dora Bailey Mixon on September 29, 1941 in Andrews. She was a retired mill worker of Oneita Industries. She was a member of the Piney Forest Baptist Church for over 45 years where she served in the Choir, the Women’s Ministry, the GIA Ministry, the Prison Ministry, the Children and Teen ministries, Habitat, and numerous others committees. She has cooked meals and co-hosted events for the many church families such as annual Homecomings, wedding and baby showers, and funeral meals. She was the epitome of a Southern lady committed to making her house a home for all who entered, having her best appearance adorned by her radiant smile, and most importantly always being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose arms was a place of love and shelter for her husband, children, and family. George and Lillian were married on February 17, 1957, and celebrated 62 years together. Their home was blessed with seven children, Mark Wayne Mihalakis, Anita Lynn (Thomas) Mansfield, Mart Wade Mihalakis, Hailey Renee Mihalakis, James Allen Mihalakis, Monte Ralph (Ruth Ann) Mihalakis, Susan Ellen Brandon; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a sister, Elizabeth M. All; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette T. Mixon. She was predeceased by her parents; a granddaughter, Amanda Cook; a brother, Charles "Charlie" Gary Mixon. A Home Going Celebration will be graveside in Andrews Memorial Cemetery at 3 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. The Mihalakis family will receive family and friends immediately after the service. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mihalakis family.
