Wing, wife of Willard Wing, died at the family home in Goldendale on September 26, 1912, at 8 a.m. She was an active member of the M.E. church for many years. Mrs. Wing was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Splawn, and was born in The Dalles, Oregon, January 6, 1868. In 1870 the family came across the Barlow route, and settled at Lyle, where most of her girlhood days were spent. In 1885 she was married to Alfred E. Lacey. Two daughters were born to them.... Wing, wife of Willard Wing, died at the family home in Goldendale on September 26, 1912, at 8 a.m. She was an active member of the M.E. church for many years. Mrs. Wing was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Splawn, and was born in The Dalles, Oregon, January 6, 1868. In 1870 the family came across the Barlow route, and settled at Lyle, where most of her girlhood days were spent. In 1885 she was married to Alfred E. Lacey. Two daughters were born to them. Mr. Lacey died December 25, 1892. In 1896 she was married to Willard Wing. One daughter was born to this union. Besides her husband and three daughters, she leaves a brother Marion Splawn, of Lyle, and three sisters, Mrs. W.P. Smith, of Grants Pass, Mrs. A.H. Oilar, of Waldport, and Mrs. S.R. McWillis, of Bayview. Mrs. Wing was a loving wife, a kind and indulgent mother and a good neighbor and friend, and Goldendale loses a good woman in her death. The editor of the Independent has been acquainted with her for over 30 years, and we never heard but good words of her. The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the M.E church, Rev. Ineson preaching the funeral sermon, and her body was laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire county in this their said hour of sorrow. ----------------------------------- The Klickitat County Agriculturist, Goldendale, WA., October 5, 1912, page 2 "Klickitat Intelligence" Mrs. Lillie B. Wing, who died at her residence in Goldendale September 26th, after an illness of several months, was a native of Oregon, but had lived in Klickitat county for 42 years. She was a daughter of F.M. Splawn, an early Oregon pioneer and veteran of the Rogue River indian war of 1855, and was born at Dallas, Polk county, in 1868. Her parents came to Klickitat county in 1870, crossing the Cascades by the Barlow route on horseback, and carrying Mrs. Wing and a twin sister in their arms. Mrs. Willard Wing was a member of the Goldendale Methodist church and of the local lodge of the Women of Woodcraft, who conducted the funeral services. She is survived by her husband, Willard Wing, of Goldendale, and the following children: Margaret Wing of Goldendale; Mrs. H.O. Hickman of Portland and Mrs. Vivian Dodridge of Portlandd. Marion Splawn of Lyle is the only surviving brother. Surviving sisters are: Mrs. Minnie Smith of Grants Pass; Mrs. Jennie Oiler of Walport, and Mrs. Myrtle McWillis of Bay View, Oregon.
