Read More	Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 4, 1970: Lillie Florine (Rhodes) Jantz, daughter of Harry W. and Lillie Hegle Rhodes, was born at Tampa, Kansas May 24, 1915 and peacefully departed this life after a brief illness at the Salem Hospital, Hillsboro, Kansas, Jan. 13, 1970, reaching the age of 55 years. She grew to womanhood on the Rhodes Ranch at Tampa, Kansas. She received her elementary schooling in the College Hill, and Bell Top schools. She graduated from the Durham High School with the class of 1933. At the age of 19 she realized her need of salvation in her life. She repented and received forgiveness of her sins in the atoning blood of Christ her Savior. Upon confession of her faith she was baptized on March 8, 1935 by Min. Albert Unruh, joining the Church of God in Christ. She remained a loyal faithful Christian all her life. On June 9, 1935 she was joined in marriage to Irvin Jantz. To this union two children were born, Luella and Duane. After only 17 years of happiness her husband was taken from her by death on Dec. 23, 1952, leaving her a widow for 17 years. Her daughter Luella lost her life by accident on Dec. 15, 1938. Her earlier years were spent on a farm near Tampa, Kansas. The last number of years she made her home in Hillsboro, Kansas. We have witnessed the life and the passing of one who loved her home, her children, her friends and her church. She had many trying days and many struggles, but she also had her good days for she faced life with courage, the first of human qualities, because it is the quality which guarantees all the others. No discouragement was greater than her faith, no hardship greater than her hope, for in the depth of her hopes and desires lay her silent knowledge of the beyond. For the test of the heart is trouble and it always comes with the years. Then the smile that is worth the homage of earth, is the smile that shines through the tears. Mrs. Jantz is survived by her son, Duane L. Jantz and his wife Jan, Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren, Connie and Kent; her mother, Mrs. Lillie Rhodes, Tampa, Kansas; four sisters: Mrs. Ethel Trumble, Newkier, N. Mex.; Esther Rhodes, Tampa, Kansas; Mrs. Joan Lovelady, Robinson, Kansas; Mrs. Geneva Brouhard, Andover, Kansas; eight brothers: Harold Rhodes, Montezuma, Kansas; Dale, Murray, Robert, Dean and Carroll Rhodes, Tampa, Kansas; Preston Rhodes, Park City, Kansas and Lowell Rhodes, Wichita, Kansas. There's no other word that's spoken 'Neath the starry sky above, Can so touch our hearts as "Mother" Or inspire so pure a love. She resteth now; no more her breast Heaves with its weary breath. Pain sits no longer on the brow, Where lies the calm of death. Sunk to her rest, like a tired child, She lies in slumber deep, Soft folded in the arms of Him Who giveth his beloved sleep. We are holding precious memories Of your sharing smiles and tears, But our lonely hearts are happy, That for you there's no more pain or tears. Funeral services were held at the Morning Star Church near Durham, Kansas Jan. 17, at 2 PM. Min. Claude Unruh spoke from Phil. 1:21 and Isa. 43:1-3.
